    We went there in 1993 & it was fun. Lot of local people & local color and a small town feel. Went back in 2010 and MONEY had taken over. You got looked at sideways if you didn’t give a street vendor a $20 tip for a $10 sandwich, it was an utter disgrace. God knows what it’s like now.

    My aunt and incle moved to the Cape in the late 1960's. So relatively quiet in the summer. Yes, there were traffic back-ups at yhe bridges during the summer, but they thinned out as you got further down the Cape. Now it's just as bad as Boston during rush hour, only with salt marshes. My aunt's town allowed so much condo and jotel building you can no longer take what was a shore road to see the ocean as these buildings prevent yoi from seeing it. And ehat used yo be public beaces are now private. I avoid visiting between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

    Let's back WAY UP to Bartholomew Gosnold, who was was a famous navigator and discoverer in North America. Sailed from Falmouth, Mar. 25, 1602. Discovered Cape Cod and the adjoining islands. Leader of an expedition under the auspices of Sir Ferdinando Gorges, 1606. Discovered the Capes of Virginia. Founded Jamestown. Died there Aug. 22, 1607. I should know. I'm one of his 11th great granddaughters, DNA proven. The FIRST Europeans on Cape Cod were NOT there for farming. They were there for the abundant amount of Cod, which Gosnold noticed when he first landed there. They also found an abundance of oysters. They didn't plan on staying there long enough to farm. They were there to catch a haul to take back to Europe. Come on people, I live in Washington and I know this. Dutch and French sailers had been seasonally trading with especially the Wampanoag as far back as 1565. Did you even try to do any research? THAT WINDMILL IS DUTCH. It's all you late comer religious Pilgrim crybabies who ruined it all. Not the Dutch and French sailors who were there first.

    What a fun overview of this history and industry! Thank you for sharing! I'm left desiring to know about First Nations use and relationship with this berry and also what uses and markets did early colonists find for the cranberry? All the best,

    Hey Ms. Mayor, this might be the only place in your erea that does not have any parking scams, sanctioned or otherwise, to rip off tourists. You agree?

  • @glenbowman1678
    @glenbowman1678 2 роки тому

    May 2022. Hey Ms. Mayor, I won't even bother asking if you if KW (sanctioned?) parking lot scams were going on this far back. Boy have things changed eh?

  • @glenbowman1678

    hey Ms. Mayor, do you think the city allowed parking scams back then?

  • @glenbowman1678
    @glenbowman1678 2 роки тому

    Just watch where you park your golfcart. Ask the mayor, I just sent her an email the other day regarding, in my humble oponion, some city sanctioned parking scams. ...no response from her OR the city manager. . Surprise surprise. No rockin the boat when it comes to revenue.

    As usual, they left out something. Cod were fished out long ago, but the Cape Cod fishery went on. It was mackerel that filled the holds of fishing boats for many a year. And in Provincetown especially it was immigrants from the Azores who fished the waters off Cape Cod. Their story doesn't show up here.

    Nothing compares to that smell of Cape Cod seaweed that sweet smell mixed with the salty air. My father had a 10 pot permit. I would give everything I have for one more day out on the water with him pulling those pots. I sure do miss you Dad.
